The origin and history of the Company is associated with the name of Antimoz Chkhaidze who in the 1880s, in the Guria village Askana, founded marani, managed to achieve commercial success evidenced by the fact that the varieties of wines created by him were well-known not only in Georgia, but also in West Europe, including France.
In 1998, precisely due to the old family tradition, the Company “Askanian Brothers” was established. Later, the success of this Company determined creation of the second, subsidiary company, whose founder and General Director from the date of its foundation up till now is Zurab Chkhaidze.
The Company “Kakhetian Traditional Wine-Making” was founded in 2001. It has in different corners of Kkakhetia: 45 ha on the territory of Kidzmarauli, 25 ha – in Eniseli, 40 ha – in Chabukiani, 44 ha – in Vachnadzeani, 16 ha – in Akhasheni, 1- ha – in Manavi.
The Company keeps up the best Kakhetian traditions of wine-making which are perfectly combined with modern technologies of fabrication and successful methods of management.
It gradually renews its production, technologies, participates in competitions and charitable projects filled with the Georgian spirit.
The Company “Kakhetian Traditional Wine-Making” produces wines called by the geographical territories of their production: Kindzmarauli, Akhasheni, Khvanchkara, Tsinandali, Mukuzani, as well as collection and vintage wines, namely, “Chakrulo”, “Kvarelis Valley”, “Kakhuri Traditsiebi” and cognacs among which the sales leader in Ukraine are such brands as “Dzveli Kakheti”, “Mepe Erekle II” and “Rustavelis Prospekti”. The Company, using the Kakhetian technology, produces Georgian vodka (chacha). Wine is filled both in bottles of Italian glass and in earthenware vessels of different volume made by traditional methods. Earthenware crockery imparts wine unique and medicinal properties, improves its tastiness and at the same time is an excellent present in the national stile. Each vessel is hand-made and has its own peculiar design which can make an impression even before you taste the wine.
